South Tees Site Company Limited (STSC) was set up in 2016 as company jointly owned and controlled by the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy and the South Tees Development Corporation with a focus on keeping the Former SSI Steelworks site safe and removing safety hazards. In October 2020, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of STDC.

As the work of the company progresses it will work with STDC and sister subsidiary, South Tees Developments Limited (STDL) which was set up to hold the land acquired from Tata Steel and SSI –  to realise the regeneration and redevelopment ambitions of the site.
